St. Patty's Day Crafting

Every year we go to the local St. Patrick's Day parade, and Sophia and I dress up a little bit wacky in lots of green. I found a cute t-shirt for Sophia several weeks ago, but all the maternity shirts I've seen (or non-maternity shirts that would fit) for the occasion were more money than I was willing to spend. So I decided to make my own shirt this year. Sophia helped me out.

We used fabric paint and made "shamrock" stamps by cutting a green pepper in half. Luckily, it worked just the way I'd hoped.

When we were done, Sophia did a little finger-painting. She's quite the artiste

The shirts turned out great, and they were cheap to make! Shhh~we made one for Daddy, too! It's a surprise for him!

Haircut

This fun thing happened today:

Sophia's become quite opinionated about how she likes to wear her hair, clothes, and accessories (yes, accessories). She tells me whether she wants one ponytail, two pigtails, or braided hair every morning. She tells me if she wants to add a bow, barrettes, or a headband and if she wants to wear a necklace or not. She tells me when she wants her toes painted pink or purple. She picks her outfit most days along with the shoes and purse she wants to wear out.

Recently she started talking about wanting her hair cut. While I just can't let go of her baby curls yet, her hair has grown down the middle of her back. Her hair in the front is long, but my wild child can't seem to keep it out of her face even when it's been tucked into a ponytail or accessory. So today she got her bangs cut. She was ecstatic about it and kept telling me she's a big girl with a big-girl haircut.

"After" photos:

I couldn't get her to take the sunglasses off for a picture before I put her hair in pigtails because she's too cool for school.

And here are a few shots of the big moment:

Every girl likes to be pampered!

After we got home she told me she needs makeup on her face. That is not happening for a few years.

Back to Blogging

It's hard to believe more than half a year has gone by and I haven't posted in this blog. I much prefer posting here to nonstop photo-posting on Facebook or Instagram, but with my iPhone it's become so easy to upload photos to other social media instead of blogging. Now with a new baby on the way and so much going on in our lives, I'm going to make a real effort to post when I can. If you want to see pictures of the fam, this will once again be the place to look.

I know some of you don't have Facebook, so here's a quick synopsis of what I would have posted:

In late August, we found out that I'm pregnant again, but we didn't announce until November. Here's how we shared the news.

My first trimester and part of my second trimester was rough, but mid-February I started feeling much better. I have to attribute much of that to a change in diet and healthier habits. For the most part, the second half of this pregnancy has been much easier than my pregnancy with Sophia. I'm 30 1/2 weeks along now, so we're 3/4 of the way to meeting our new little! We're not finding out the gender of this one until the birth, and we're planning another home birth as long as we're all healthy.

Nick started a new job last month, and it's a great blessing to us. He's now home for dinner in the evenings and has regular days off with us. We've enjoyed having him home so much more! It's been a step up in his career and a great move for our family. I can't wait to see how he grows with his new company!

Sophia is growing faster than ever. She's sweet, sassy, and oh-so-independent! She still loves cuddles and loves from Mommy and likes playing hard with Daddy, but she's more of a little girl than a toddler now. She constantly hugs and kisses my belly and talks about "our baby." She expresses such excitement about becoming a big sister!

We're all looking forward to what the rest of 2017 will bring!
