23 Weeks

We've been so busy the past couple of weeks, I haven't had a chance to blog about it. On the 16th, we celebrate the first birthday of a cherished little girl named Elly. She's the daughter of one of my closest friends, Beth, and we had such fun seeing her! Our sis-in-law Sarah and nephew Paxton rode up to Cheyenne, Wyoming, with us to the party. It was a great day!

We're finally almost done registering for the baby showers, and we've decided on nursery colors. We're not doing a "theme," but we're doing white and gold for the colors. I'm not big on lots of pink or frills, but I like an equally casual and glamorous look. I have no doubt our daughter's nursery will be the prettiest room in the house.

Here are a couple pictures of the nursery that inspired the look we're going for:

The nursery walls will be white, and instead of a chevron accent wall, we'll have gold polka dots. For those who've asked about where we're registered, we are registered at Babies R Us and MyRegistry.com.

Now we're 23 weeks pregnant and, aside from a brutal cold that had me stuck in bed for 2 days, I'm mostly feeling good!

We're growing more in love with the little girl growing inside me every day!

21 Weeks

Baby Wilson hit 21 weeks yesterday!

Happy Valentine's Day! xoxo

Our Little Valentine

Today we had another ultrasound, and we got to see our little valentine in 4D! This sweet little baby has Daddy's long legs, arms, and feet and Mommy's nose. The baby has all organs in the right place, 10 fingers and toes, and what the doctor called "a beautiful heart." Baby Wilson will likely be a thumb-sucker, as little fingers were exploring the inside of the mouth. The heartbeat, at a healthy 150 beats per minute, is the most cherished little song I've ever heard.

We are so in love with our precious child that I just had to go purchase a couple little baby outfits last weekend. I promised myself that I wouldn't go nuts buying clothes, but when we found out the baby's gender a couple weeks ago, I just had to celebrate. So here's the big reveal; our little angel is going to need clothes like this!

We are over the moon about having a little girl! Nick is just as thrilled as I am to be having a daughter! She will be the most treasured baby on the block!

So this week we are celebrating our 13th Valentine's Day together and the anticipation of meeting our little angel!

Happy Valentine's Day to you!

As I was perusing Pinterest this evening, I saw this adorable onesie that my cousin had pinned on her board.

I have to share: I am absolutely delighted that Nick and I have decided to cloth-diaper our baby! We decided to use cloth diapers for several reasons, among which is the fact that we will save hundreds (or possibly thousands) of dollars by doing so.

I have to admit, when I tell people that we're going to use cloth, I don't always get the most positive reactions. Some well-meaning family and friends have listed out to me the reasons against it--but most people aren't aware of how easy it actually is to use cloth today. Modern cloth diapers are nothing like they were when I was a baby.

We plan to use BumGenius 4.0 one-size diapers. There are no safety pins involved. No diaper-cleaning service required. They come in a variety of cute colors, with snaps or velcro (we've chosen to use the velcro), and they are machine-washable. We'll be washing diapers every other day and bleaching the inserts monthly. Plus, we'll be using flushable liners for easier cleaning.

We do plan on using disposable diapers for the newborn stage, only because the one-size diapers may be too large for a newborn. For that time period, we plan to use Pampers Swaddlers Sensitive Newborn diapers. We'll also be using disposables when we go on road trips or vacations.

The one-size diapers adjust to fit a 7 lb baby up to toddler size; there are snaps on the front that change the way the diapers fit for different sizes. Plus, we'll be able to use the same diapers when we have another baby.

Thankfully, we found a childcare provider that is cloth-diaper friendly. We ordered a couple of the diapers just to check them out, and they are so darned cute! I can't get over how adorable and tiny they are!

I can hardly believe that I'm halfway through my pregnancy already! 20 weeks! While it's an exciting time and I'm ready to jump into gear with nesting, I'm also a bit overwhelmed at all I have to finish before baby gets here. I know that infants don't need much, but I'm trying to think ahead of the game and prep for the first few months, as it may be a challenge to get out and go shopping for the things baby will grow into.

Here are my 20-week photos:

Have a great weekend!
